Reflections on Resilience and Gratitude: My Journey with Singer Kwinter: A Story of Overcoming Adversity and the Unwavering Support of a Dedicated Legal Team
I am writing to formally express my profound gratitude for the steadfast support and dedication that Singer Kwinter, and in particular Mr. Kwinter, have provided me throughout my journey. My life changed dramatically in 2002 following a severe skiing accident that resulted in paralysis from the waist down and permanent reliance on a wheelchair.
This life-altering event required me to reassess my aspirations and ambitions. At that time, I dreamed of becoming both a WNBA player and a family law lawyer. Despite the significant challenges I faced, including a spinal cord injury, brachial plexus injury resulting in the loss of use of my left and dominant hand, and subsequent complications such as diabetes and vision impairment, I remained determined not to let my circumstances define or limit me. I persisted in my educational pursuits and continued to strive for my goals.
During this tumultuous period, my mother sought a lawyer who could truly advocate for our needs. She selected Mr. Kwinter and his firm. A decision that proved invaluable. The team at Singer Kwinter consistently demonstrated diligence, compassion, and a genuine commitment to understanding and accommodating my unique circumstances. We were able to reach Mr. Kwinter personally, even during his travels, which speaks volumes about his dedication and accessibility.
Over the six years that our case was prolonged by the defense, Mr. Kwinter’s tenacity, resilience, and unwavering focus were evident. He stood his ground against persistent opposition, maintaining professionalism and composure even under challenging circumstances. His calm yet determined approach allowed us to navigate difficult moments with confidence. Furthermore, the professionalism and competence of his support staff were apparent throughout the negotiation process, and I extend my appreciation to the entire team.
There were numerous occasions when my mother and I felt discouraged by the aggressive tactics of the opposing counsel. However, Mr. Kwinter’s encouragement and reassurance helped us remain optimistic. His support was particularly meaningful during the trial period, when my mother underwent four major surgeries and I continued to face significant physical challenges.
Thanks to Mr. Kwinter’s commitment and expertise, I have achieved several important personal and professional milestones. I am now the proud owner of an accessible home and vehicle, both of which have greatly enhanced my independence. Additionally, I completed a Bachelor of Administrative Studies degree at York University and have been employed at TD Bank since 2006.
I wish to reiterate my sincere appreciation for everything Mr. Kwinter and Singer Kwinter have done for my family and me. I wholeheartedly recommend their team to anyone seeking legal representation in their areas of expertise.
Beyond my legal case, I have dedicated myself to empowering others as a motivational speaker, sharing my experiences to inspire individuals to pursue their full potential. My passion for advocacy led me to establish the Tamara Gordon Foundation (TGF), which awards scholarships to students with physical disabilities to support their post-secondary education at colleges and universities in Ontario. Our foundation received charitable status in 2013, and in 2014 we awarded our first six scholarships. Since then, our efforts have grown significantly; in 2025, we proudly presented 28 scholarships during our annual gala.
Mr. Kwinter has been a valued member of the TGF since its inception and has served as foundation President since 2016. I am honored to be connected with Singer Kwinter, a firm consistently recognized as one of the Best Law Firms in Canada.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support and commitment.
