The restraining order did not stop Michal Cipkar. On April 27, 2004--just weeks after trying to strangle his wife, Anna--he returned to the family home in Windsor, Ont., gas cans in hand. He lit the cars on fire first, then the house. Trapped upstairs by the rising flams, Anna and her two young daughters had no choice but to leap to safety from a second-storey window.
